Mission and Vision

Mission of the Faculty of Letters

  1. To educate enlightened minds that combine creative intellectual activity with reasoned explanation and are able to plan rationally, that have adopted the habit of lifelong learning, that have developed self-awareness, and that integrate their knowledge and experience into the real world.
  2. To contribute to humanity and to life in every respect through an academic staff that distils and carries forward the scientific heritage of humankind, that embraces a humanist method of education, that is open to teaching-oriented professional development, that is eager to strengthen institutional capacity within the framework of scientific values, that possesses self-awareness, that preserves a sense of responsibility towards society, and that is committed to universal values.
  3. To produce thought in theoretical and applied fields by carrying out innovative and interdisciplinary studies in the social sciences under the guidance of scientific and ethical values — holding that lasting accumulation and output matter more than passing generalities, and ensuring that growth in knowledge is accompanied by growth in wisdom — to form critical ideas that push the boundaries of science and technology, and to make these effective at the international level.

Vision of the Faculty of Letters

The core vision our Faculty has set in order to fulfil its mission is to carry out pioneering scientific work and to produce thought in the social sciences, together with an academic staff and students who are participatory and collaborative, who think critically, who preserve a sense of responsibility towards society within the framework of scientific and ethical values, and who are committed to universal values.
